Current Events

The Current Issues and Events Contest focuses on a basic knowledge of current state, national and world events/issues and consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and one essay. The essay is intended to assess the competitor’s ability to synthesize and evaluate information and present it in an informed manner.
The Current Events team will compete in two local UIL contests, normally at Pine Tree and Hallsville. Followed by District competition. In addition to these two contests the team members will take a series of tests competing against each other for positions on the team. The top four participants will make the four-person team with one alternate. The Current events team has been District Champions 4 of the last 6 years but understand continued success is dependent on you and your dedication to learning about world events.
